Privacy Policy
This page is what we do with the little bit of data HackHabit stores. It is not legal advice. If we add servers, ads, analytics, or in-app purchases, we will update this page the same day.
Who we are
HackHabit is an iPhone app from Sahil and Danny. We do not run our own account database or backend. For questions about this policy, open an issue on github.com/Sahil9477/hackhabit-legal.
What the app stores
HackHabit keeps data on your iPhone and, if iCloud is on, in Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store for your Apple ID. We do not operate a HackHabit server that receives this.
- Nickname, first-run quiz answers, and profile picture choice
- Pet health, quiet-day minute target, coins, level, and XP
- Daily challenges and winning streak
- Live pet, unlocked pets, hats and other accessories
- Furniture you bought, room layout, and wall color
Screen Time
The apps you pick (for example Instagram or TikTok) are stored as Apple Screen Time tokens on the device. Apple’s Screen Time APIs tell the app threshold minutes on those apps so the pet can respond. We do not upload a live feed of which app you are in, and we do not have a server that stores those tokens.
Notifications
Pet reminders (too much scrolling, mood, evening check-in, sitting timers) are local notifications on your iPhone. We do not send them from a cloud push provider.
What we do not do
- No HackHabit user accounts or passwords
- No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, no App Tracking Transparency
- We do not sell your data
Children
HackHabit is not directed at children under 13.
How to wipe it
Delete the app to remove on-device data, including Screen Time picks. Nickname, coins, pet, room, and similar iCloud Key-Value data stay with your Apple ID until you clear HackHabit’s iCloud data in Settings, or until Apple expires that store. Reinstalling on the same Apple ID with iCloud on will restore that Key-Value data. You will need to allow Screen Time again.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new date at the top of this page.
